CPEC to usher in revolution in national economy, technology: President Mamnoon

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will forge connectivity among the countries in the region and completion of this project will bring revolution in the sectors of economy, commerce and technology. While addressing a seminar in Islamabad on CPEC, “With the completion of CPEC, Pakistan will not only stand connected with China through new sea and air routes but also will forge connectivity with other countries of region. This will boost economic activities and will revolutionize the sectors of industry, commerce and technology in the country.” He stressed that National University of Science and Technology and Institute of Engineering should enter into agreements of mutual cooperation with China and scientist should evolve strategy in conformity with future requirements to address the problems facing the country. He said that the educational institutions and scientists should play their role in dealing with upcoming challenges in the country and get benefits of the CPEC. He remarked, “New changes are evolving day by day in the world therefore, we should mull over the future requirements and business. I am however, happy that the scientists have become active in the perspective of future needs of the country and they are playing their positive role.” He added that scientists should prepare a comprehensive strategy to bring the country out from confronted challenges. He underscored that Pakistan was taking steps for economic development and CPEC was an outcome of these persistent and sincere efforts of the government. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor will not only benefit Pakistan and China but the whole region. He said that CPEC will enhance economic activities in the region and integrate the regional economy. The minister said that the youth of the country will have to play their role to make the CPEC project a successful one. He said that Pak-China relations are model for the entire world and guarantor for peace in the region. Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong said that the entire world is benefiting from uplift projects of China. He went on saying that CPEC is aimed at promoting regional connectivity and trade and over 100 countries have supported CPEC. He added that this project will open up new doors of cooperation among the countries of the region while more investment will come into Pakistan.
