ISLAMABAD: A constitutional petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) against non implementation of electoral pledges made by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on fixation of minimum wages of labourers as Rs 15,000 per month.

A citizen, Zahid Ghani filed a petition taking the plea that PML-N and PTI had made this pledge with the electorates that they would fix minimum wages of a laborer ranging between Rs 15000 to Rs 18000 per month during their election campaigns before the general elections 2013.

The petitioner further stated that Chairman PTI Imran Khan during his address to a public meeting in Lahore had said that he would fix labourer wages to Rs 15000 per month if he was voted to power.

He came into power in KPK but has not delivered his electoral pledge despite lapse of four months.

After three days of Imran Khan’s public meeting, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif for the sake of political point scoring said that labourer wages should be Rs 18000 rather than Rs 15000 per month.

After formation of its government in centre, PML-N has presented four budgets so far but Nawaz Sharif has failed to deliver this pledge of fixing the wages of a labourer to Rs 18000 per month.

The court has admitted the petition for hearing.
